After 22 years as part of the Matt & Ramona show at Hot AC “Mix 107.9” WLNK Charlotte, Ramona Halloway is moving to a new role within the Radio One Charlotte cluster as Community Affairs Manager.
Halloway will step down from the morning show following the show on Tuesday, May 2 but states she will make regular appearances on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-10am and hosting two weekly podcasts with longtime co-host Matt Harris. She and Harris have been teamed together since 2000, first at “Z104” WNVZ Norfolk and since 2001 at WLNK. They moved from their two decade long perch in afternoons to mornings when “107.9 The Link” relaunched as “Mix 107.9” in April 2021. She also served as News Director and morning co-host at WTLC-FM Indianapolis from 1998-2000 and News Director of WNCI Columbus after starting her career at Country WNKO Newark OH. In Charlotte, she has served as co-host of “Charlotte Today” on WCNC-TV and “Fox News Edge” on WCCB-TV.
Radio One, Inc. announced today that long time radio host Ramona Holloway has been named Community Affairs Manager for the Charlotte cluster including WLNK, WOSF, WBT, WPZS, WFNZ, and WOSF-HD2.
Holloway, best known as half of “The Matt & Ramona Show,” has a career spanning 30 years in media, motivational speaking and event hosting. For the past 22 years, she’s hosted mornings with her radio partner Matt Harris. Holoway is a true Charlotte celebrity with multimedia exposure as a former co-host of “Charlotte Today,” on WCNC-TV and former co-host on “News Edge” on WCCB-TV.
Holloway said, “I’ve been blessed to have lived my radio dreams. I’ve worked every format from county to gospel. I’ve been a news director and hosted a syndicated show with my brother from another mother, Matt Harris. It’s time to move into a new chapter, one that feeds my passion and gives me an opportunity to forge community partnerships that can make a positive contribution. I’ll still stop by the MIX 107.9 studios on Tuesdays and Thursdays to have fun with my friends on the MIX morning show, but my goal is to expand Radio One’s philanthropic endeavors across all 6 stations in the cluster.
Regional Vice President and General Manager Marsha Landess added, “Radio One Charlotte is committed to making a difference in our community. I can think of no one better to lead this charge for us than Ramona Holloway. Her longevity in this market, her commitment to serving the community and her incredible passion for making a difference with our listeners, clients and community partners is unmatched. She now will have the opportunity to work closer with all six of our radio station brands and websites to help make an even larger impact. Even though we will miss hearing her every morning on the radio, we are happy she will still be a vital part of our Radio One Charlotte family.”
