Radio TechCon 2023 has announced there will be 20 bursary places this year, making it the event’s biggest bursary scheme so far.
It’s been made possible because of the support from sponsors News UK, All in Media – a part of Xperi, The Radio Academy, Bauer Media, Brun Audio Consulting, Ann Charles Media, Clockhouse Media and an anonymous donor.
The 20 bursary places include free tickets for people from backgrounds underrepresented in broadcast engineering, or who are facing a financial barrier.
Winners will also receive a year’s membership of The Radio Academy and, for the first time, all bursary recipients will be eligible for travel and accommodation support if it is needed.
Aradhna Leach, from organisers TBC Media Ltd said: “Broadcast engineering is one of the most creative areas of our industry. However, many people don’t consider it as a career option because they don’t know the huge range of jobs and skills available, or how technical knowledge can further their existing career.
“We hope that by offering bursary places, more people are encouraged to attend broadcast engineering events and feel like the technical part of the industry is for ‘people like them’.
“We are very grateful to all our Bursary sponsors for their support towards creating a more inclusive industry.”
If you would like to apply for a bursary, you’ll need to complete a simple form available on the Radio TechCon website. The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Sunday 5th November and winners will be notified by the end of Friday 10th November.
