Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

New York

iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW rises 7.3 to 7.8 to expand its lead. iHeart Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ dips 6.4 to 5.9. MediaCo Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS rises to third 4.9 to 5.4. Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM (5.6 to 5.2) and iHeartMedia CHR “Z100” WHTZ (5.0 to 5.2) tie for fourth.

Public News/Talk 93.9 WNYC-FM surges up 3.1 – 3.6 – 4.4.

Univision Spanish CHR “X96.3” WXNY trends up 2.0 – 2.4 – 3.0. Educational Media Foundation Christian AC “K-Love” 95.5 WPLJ jumps up 1.7 to 2.5 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is its highest mark since a 3.1 share in its final monthly of the former Hot AC format in May 2019.

Audacy Hot AC “New 102.7” WNEW is up 3.7 to 4.2. iHeartMedia Hot AC 103.5 WKTU slips 5.0 to 4.1.

Los Angeles

K-Earth KRTH 101 101.1 Los AngelesAudacy Classic Hits “K-Earth 101” KRTH holds its one share lead up 6.1 to 6.2. iHeartMedia Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG holds at a 5.2 share. iHeart AC 103.5 KOST dips 5.1 to 4.9. Audacy Rhythmic AC “94.7 The Wave” KTWV moves up 4.5 to 4.6. iHeartMedia News/Talk 640 KFI dips 4.8 to 4.5.

iHeartMedia CHR 102.7 KIIS-FM trends up 3.5 – 3.7 – 4.0. EMF’s “K-Love” 100.3 KKLQ rises 2.0 to 2.3.

Univision Spanish Classic Hits “Recuerdo 103.9/98.3” KRCD/KRCV slides 4.3 – 4.0 – 3.5. iHeartMedia Alternative “Alt 98.7” KYSR trends down 3.1 – 2.8 – 2.4.

Chicago

97.1 The Drive WDRV ChicagoHubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV reclaims sole possession of the Chicago lead up 6.8 to 7.0. iHeartMedia Soft AC “93.9 Lite-FM” WLIT dips 7.7 – 6.8 – 6.6. Audacy News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS rises 4.9 to 5.6. iHeartMedia Adult R&B “V103” WVAZ is up 4.2 – 5.0. Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 105.1” WOJO jumps 3.6 to 4.5.

Hubbard Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX gains 3.4 – 4.1 – 4.4.

Audacy AAA 93.1 WXRT slides 5.7 – 5.0 – 4.7 – 4.3. While the majority of Sports stations were up with the start of the NFL season, Chicago appears to have given up as Audacy’s “670 The Score” WSCR drops 3.2 to 2.5.

San Francisco

99.7 Now KMVQ San Francisco Fernando Greg Shan BerriesBonneville AC 96.5 KOIT dips 8.4 to 7.9 but expands its lead over Audacy News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC as it dips 7.1 to 6.6. Public News/Talk 88.5 KQED-FM holds at a 5.3 share. Bonneville CHR “99.7 Now” KMVQ surges up 3.9 – 4.6 – 5.2. iHeartMedia Soft AC “98.1 The Breeze” dips 4.6 to 4.3.

Audacy Alternative “Live 105” KITS rises 3.4 to 4.0 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the largest share in the history of the 105.3 facility. Audacy Sports “95.7 The Game” KGMZ rises 1.0 – 1.5 – 1.8.

iHeartMedia Hip Hop 106.1 KMEL falls 4.8 to 3.8.

Dallas/Fort Worth

Que Buena 94.1 KLNO DallasUnivision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 94.1” KLNO takes the Metroplex lead up 4.3 – 4.7 – 5.2. Audacy Classic Hits “98.7 The Spot” KSPF falls to second while rising 4.9 to 5.1. Cumulus Sports “The Ticket” 1310 KTCK/96.7 KTCK-FM holds at a 4.7 share, while sister News/Talk 820 WBAP dips 4.6 to 4.5 and “New Country 96.3” KSCS dips 4.5 to 4.4.

Cumulus Country “99.5 The Wolf” KPLX drops 4.9 to 4.2. iHeartMedia Hot AC “Mix 102.9” KDMX slips 3.3 to 2.6.

Audacy Sports “105.3 The Fan” KRLD-FM rises 2.7 – 2.9 – 3.6 as play-by-play home for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and MLB’s Texas Rangers playoff-run. Audacy Regional Mexican “La Grande 107.5” KMVK is up 2.2 – 2.6 – 3.0.

Houston/Galveston

Majic 102.1 KMJQ HoustonRadio One’s duo of Adult R&B “Majic 102.1” KMJQ and Classic Rock “107.5/106.9 The Eagle” KGLK/KHPT both rise 6.7 to 7.2. Huff notes that is the first share of the lead for KMJQ since November 2019. iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 99.1” KODA falls 7.9 to 6.9. Hope Media Group Christian AC 89.3 KSBJ rises 5.1 to 5.8. Audacy Variety Hits “95.7 The Spot” KKHH is up 5.1 to 5.5.

Estrella Media Regional Mexican “El Norte 107.9” KQQK trends up 2.6 – 2.9 – 3.6. Univision Spanish CHR “Latino Mix 104.9” KAMA rises 1.8 – 2.0 – 2.3.

iHeartMedia Hip Hop “93.7 The Beat” KQBT drops 4.0 to 3.4.

Atlanta

97.1 The River WSRVCox Classic Rock “97.1 The River” WSRV rises 7.9 to 8.5. Cox News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB is up 7.3 to 8.1. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 107.5/97.5” WAMJ/WUMJ drops 7.8 to 6.9. Cox Adult R&B “Kiss 104.1” WALR inches up 5.3 to 5.4. Audacy Hip Hop/R&B “V103” WVEE rises 4.7 to 5.0.

Salem Christian AC “104.7 The Fish” WFSH trends up 3.6 – 4.0 – 4.9. Cumulus Classic Alternative “99X” 100.5 WNNX gains 2.7 – 3.7 – 3.8.

Cox AC “B98.5” WSB-FM slides 5.4 – 4.9 – 4.6. iHeartMedia Country “94.9 The Bull” WUBL is down 3.9 to 3.3. Radio One Hip Hop “Hot 107.9” WHTA drops 2.8 to 2.1.

Philadelphia

94 94.1 WIP PhiladelphiaiHeartMedia Adult R&B 105.3 WDAS-FM surges up 7.0 to 8.6. Audacy Sports 94.1 WIP makes a bigger gain up 5.8 to 8.2 (with stream adding a 0.7 to 1.5 gain). Beasley Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK ties for second as it slides 10.1 to 8.2. Beasley Rock 93.3 WMMR is fourth 6.8 to 6.9, while sister Country 92.5 WXTU dips 6.4 to 5.9.

Public News/Talk 90.9 WHYY-FM trends down 3.8 – 3.6 – 3.1. iHeartMedia CHR “Q102” WIOQ dips 2.6 to 2.3, while sister Spanish CHR “Rumba 106.1” WUMR is down 2.1 to 1.6.

Other Markets

Due to a Nielsen glitch, multiple stations were missing from Nassau/Suffolk and Riverside/San Bernardino and no stations were listed for Middlesex/Somerset/Union and San Jose. A Nielsen representative tells us that the corrected information will be published on Tuesday, October 31.

In what was public, we can note two record highs set.

102.3 WBAB Babylon 95.3 WHFMOn Long Island, Cox Classic Rock 102.3 WBAB/95.3 WHFM rises 7.1 – 8.0 – 8.6 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the largest share in station history. In Riverside/San Bernardino, Anaheim Broadcasting Classic Hits 99.9 KOLA-FM continues six straight months of gains up 9.9 to 10.4, which Huff notes is a new all-time record high for the station and the largest for any in the market since December 2018.
