Longtime Miami morning host ‘Young Ron’ Brewer passed away on Wednesday, April 3.
Brewer spent 27 years in Miami teamed with Paul Castronovo from 1990 until retiring at the end of 2016. The duo were first paired together at 103.5 WSHE before moving to “Zeta 94.9” WZTA in 1995 and them moved to “Big 106” WBGG-FM in 2004. During their tenure together they were also simulcast in West Palm Beach at WKGR and then WZZR. Castronovo continues to host mornings at what is now “Big 105.9” and will dedicate his morning show on Friday, April 5 to his former partner. Prior to teaming with Castronovo, Brewer was hired by Program Director Brian Krysz to host mornings at WYBB Charleston before following Krysz to WFYV Jacksonville and then WSHE first as Castronovo’s newscaster.
Krysz stated, “I had the honor of hiring him in Charleston SC Jacksonville and eventually put him with Paul Castronovo to form one of Americas greatest morning shows. Ron was not only a great talent but a true gentleman excellent friend and one of the most giving beings I have known.”
