Radio Remembers Pat James

Pat James Country 102.9 KHUT 92.3 WIL KFDI CornbreadEagle Communications Hutchinson KS Operations Manager and “Country 102.9” KHUT morning host ‘Pat James’ Linton passed away on Tuesday, December 17.

Prior to joining Eagle in 2017, James previously was co-host of the “Cornbread & Pat James” morning show at KFDI Wichita from 1999 to 2004 and WIL-FM St. Louis from 2004-11. At KFDI he also served as APD/MD. He would return to Wichita from 2012 to 2017 to program then Connoisseur Media Variety Hits “97.1 Bob-FM” KIBB and Classic Country “100.5 Hank-FM” KVWF. James won CMA awards for Medium and Major Market Personality of the Year and was nominated for four ACM Awards and had been tracking afternoons for Eagle’s “101.9 The Bull” KKQY Hays KS. He also had a photography business.

Market Manager Matt Althouse said, “Pat’s legacy in country radio is assured. More than that, he was a devoted father and family man, whose presence his listeners will miss every day on their radio, but we will miss just as much in our building. He was the consummate professional. Our thoughts continue to be with his family.”

James is survived by his wife Tracy and his daughters Allison and Abby.
