The Radio Academy has announced details of its next Training Day, which will be held at Coventry University on Friday 27 May.
The five-hour programme of talks with industry leaders will start at 1pm, and will include sessions on programme production, podcasting, music radio, news and speech, features, imaging, and technology.
It will end with a ‘demo clinic’ for aspiring presenters to get advice from programmers about their latest work, followed by networking drinks.
The Training Day will take place at Coventry University’s TheHub and George Eliot lecture theatres. Tickets are charged at the token price of £10 for Radio Academy Members, or £20 for non-members. Tickets include light refreshments on the day and the first drink in the bar, and the non-member price includes a discount code for £10 off Radio Academy Membership.
Speakers will be announced over the coming weeks, for the event which coincides with the start of Radio 1’s Big Weekend in the city. The Academy’s previous Training Day in Exeter included speakers from BBC, Commercial and Community radio, including national and local presenters and leadership.
Announcing the Coventry Training Day, Managing Director of The Radio Academy Sam Bailey said: “After the success of our recent Training Day in Exeter, it’s great to crack straight on with the next one, based in the Heart of England. I urge everyone who loves audio to come along – professionals, volunteers, hobbyists, students, podcasters – if you can get to Coventry, we want to see you there!”.
Dan Hopkins, Course Director of BA (Hons) Media Production at Coventry University, said: “This is fantastic news for the university and the course I lead. A lot of my students have been involved in creating radio shows, podcasts and audio content so this will be an amazing event for them to attend and adds to our professional events and opportunities for the students.”
Tickets are available now at radioacademy.org/training.
