Steel City Media Country “Q104” KBEQ Kansas City debuted a revamped morning show today as Program Director/midday host Todd Nixon joins incumbent Jenny Matthews, while producer Joe ‘Tater’ Cavanagh is departing the station.
Nixon has programmed KBEQ since January 2017 after previous programming stints at WYZB Fort Walton Beach, KRMD-FM Shreveport, WCKT Fort Myers, WCTQ Sarasota, WTQR Greensboro, and WNCB Raleigh. He also purchased and relaunched Country “Y’all 103.7” 1410 KTNK/103.7 K279CY Lompoc CA with fiancé Liz Hallem last year.
Matthews has been in mornings at KBEQ since October 2019. She previously spent fourteen years at sister CHR “Mix 93.3” KMXV with stints in weekends, as News Director, and midday host after starting her career at WIRK West Palm Beach. Matthews had been teamed with Mike Kellar until his exit last July.
Joe ‘Tater’ Cavanagh has announced his upcoming departure from KBEQ after seven years to relocate to Nashville to pursue becoming a songwriter. During his tenure with “Q104“, Cavanagh has served as Production Director, morning show producer/co-host, and Promotions Manager. He previously spent nearly four years at Studsill Media Country “Walls 102” WALS Peru IL with time tracking nights and hosting mornings and afternoons.
