Pete McKenzie & Heather Ford Exit WZLX

iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX Boston is making changes in mornings at Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford have departed the station ahead of new morning show to be announced later today.

Their exits follow the passing of co-host Kevin Karlson last October. The trio joined WZLX in 2005 with Karlson and McKenzie previously being teamed together since 1985 with a previous Boston stint at “Eagle 93.7” WEGQ and have also worked at stations including WYYS Charleston, WZNE Rochester, WRVQ Richmond, WIOT Toledo, and KAYI Tulsa.

In a statement made on-air, the station announced, “On behalf of everyone here at WZLX, we’d like to share some news about the future of Boston’s Classic Rock. First and foremost, we’d like to thank Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford for all the laughter, wild stories and fun moments they have brought to Boston morning radio over the years. We truly appreciate them. With that said, we have decided to close that chapter of WZLX. After careful consideration, it was our decision to bring you, the loyal WZLX listener, a new show to take us into the future. We will debut this new show soon. Stay tuned to WZLX for more details today.”
