After retiring from mornings at Signal Media Sports “103.7 The Buzz” KABZ at the end of 2021, ‘Outlaw’ Tommy Smith is coming out of retirement to host mornings at Red River Radio Classic Hits “101.9 The Lake” KSUG Heber Springs/Searcy AR.
Smith said, “I am thrilled and excited about joining The Lake. I grew weary and wanted to get away. I was burnt out, so I retired, but Ali and The Lake sounded nice and relaxed… too good to be true. People ask me if I’m still the “Outlaw.” Tune in and find out.”
KSUG Owner/General Manager Ali King Sugg commented, “I could not be more excited for Tommy to join our team at The Lake. This is a great fit and we are ready to crank up the fun in the afternoons with one of the biggest radio legends in Arkansas.”
Smith’s radio career began in 1974 at 1380 KEWP Little Rock. After a stint in the Army and a station in Colorado Springs, Smith joined “Magic 105.1” KMJX in 1980 eventually spending two decades anchoring “The Rock & Roll Breakfast” prior to joining KABZ from 2004 until the end of 2021.
