Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW retains its New York market lead down 7.0 to 6.8. MediaCo Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS rises 6.1 to 5.5. Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM is up 5.0 to 5.5. iHeartMedia CHR “Z100” WHTZ jumps up 4.4 to 5.1. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ rises to fifth up 4.3 to 4.6.

Launching a quarter of the way through the monthly, Audacy Classic Hip Hop “94.7 The Block” WXBK debuts with a 1.4 share, down from a 2.1 in its final monthly as “New York’s Country 94.7” WNSH. WXBX debuted with a 0.9 in Long Island (down from 1.4) and 2.8 in Middlesex/Somerset/Union down from its 5.0 in October. Press Communications Country “Thunder 106” WKMK/WTHJ trends up in Middlesex 0.9 – 1.1 – 1.7.

With the launch of The Block, both iHeartMedia Hip Hop “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM (down 3.1 to 2.7) and MediaCo’s “Hot 97” WQHT (down 2.8 to 2.6) dropped.

Trending up in New York is Audacy News 1010 WINS (2.8 to 3.6), while SBS Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ drops 5.0 to 4.5 and Classical 105.9 WQXR trends down 2.7 – 2.5 – 1.7.

iHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST leads Los Angeles down 6.3 to 6.0. Audacy Classic Hits “K-Earth 101.1” KRTH holds steady at a 5.5 share. iHeartMedia Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG dis 4.6 to 4.2 to tie Audacy Rhythmic AC “94.7 The Wave” KTWV (up 3.7 to 4.2). Univision Spanish AC “107.5 K-Love” KLVE dips 4.3 to 4.1.

Trending up in Los Angeles is SBS’ Spanish CHR “Mega 96.3” KXOL (1.9 – 2.1 – 2.4). Trending down are Audacy Alternative 106.7 KROQ (2.0 – 1.9 – 1.6) and CHR “Now 97.1” KNOU (1.6 to 1.4).

Audacy News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS falls into a first place tie in Chicago as it falls 6.7 to 5.7, while iHeartMedia AC “93.9 Lite-FM” WLIT jumps up 4.6 to 5.7. iHeartMedia Adult R&B “V103” WVAZ falls 5.8 to 5.0. Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV rises 4.3 to 4.8. Public News/Talk 91.5 WBEZ slips 4.9 to 4.7.

With the firing of morning host Eric Ferguson halfway through the survey period, Hubbard Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX jumps up 3.5 to 4.4.

Public News/Talk 88.5 KQED-FM rises 7.2 to 7.8 to retain its San Francisco lead. Audacy News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC jumps up 6.0 to 7.2. iHeartMedia Soft AC “98.1 The Breeze” KISQ dips 4.7 to 4.4. Audacy Hot AC “Alice 97.3” KLLC (up 3.4 to 4.2) and Bonneville AC 96.5 KOIT (3.6 to 4.2) tie for fourth.

Cumulus Sports 680 KNBR/104.5 KNBR-FM plummets 6.9 to 4.0 following the end of the baseball season. Bonneville CHR “99.7 Now” KMVQ falls 3.3 to 2.3. Audacy Rhythmic AC “Q102.1” KRBQ trends up 1.7 – 2.3 – 2.6. Cumulus Classic Rock “107.7 The Bone” KSAN trends down 2.6 – 2.3 – 1.9.

Audacy Variety Hits “105.3 Dave-FM” KITS flipped from AlternativeAlt 105.3” on the second day of the monthly. KITS holds steady at a 1.3 share.

iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS remains on top of Dallas with a 5.4 to 5.1 gain. Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 94.1” KLNO dips 5.0 to 4.9. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Lonestar 92.5” KZPS holds at a 4.7 share. iHeartMedia AC “Star 102.1” KDGE jumps up 3.8 to 4.3, while Service Broadcasting Hip Hop “K104” KKDA-FM surges 3.1 to 4.3.

Cumulus Country “99.5 The Wolf” KPLX jumps up 3.1 to 4.1, while sister “New Country 96.3” KSCS trends down 4.1 – 3.9 – 3.6. Audacy Alternative “Alt 103.7” KVIL dips down 1.4 to 1.1 with the station dropping its morning and afternoon shows following the survey period.

Two stations tie atop Houston as iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 99.1” KODA is up 6.5 to 6.6 and Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 102.9” KLTN is up 6.2 to 6.6. Hope Media Group Christian AC 89.3 KSBJ rises 5.7 to 6.2. Cox Media Group Classic Rock “107.5/106.9 The Eagle” KGLK/KHPT rises 5.2 to 5.4. Audacy Variety Hits “95.7 The Spot” KKHH dips 5.8 to 5.3.

Cumulus CHR 104.1 KRBE trends up 3.5 – 3.8 – 4.3.

Cox Media Group’s big four take the top four spots in Atlanta. News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB dips 9.6 to 9.3. Classic Rock “97.1 The River” WSRV rises 7.3 to 7.5. Adult R&B “Kiss 104.1” WALR rises 5.7 to 6.5. AC “B98.5” WSB-FM is up 5.2 to 5.3. Salem Christian AC “104.7 The Fish” WFSH holds at a 5.0.

The Braves’ World Series run helps Dickey Broadcasting Sports 680/93.7 WCNN trend up 1.9 – 2.2 – 3.0. Audacy Sports “92.9 The Game” WZGC dips 2.9 to 2.5. iHeartMedia CHR “Power 96.1” WWPW trends down 5.1 – 3.9 – 3.5.

iHeartMedia Adult R&B 105.3 WDAS-FM Philadelphia holds steady at an 8.7 share. Beasley Media Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK rises 6.3 to 7.2, while sister Rock 93.3 WMMR dips 7.3 to 6.8. Public News/Talk 90.9 WHYY-FM (5.6 to 5.2) and Audacy News 1060 KYW/103.9 WPHI (5.3 to 5.2) tie for fourth.

Beasley Media Variety Hits “95.7 Ben-FM” WBEN-FM jumps up 2.9 to 3.7. iHeartMedia Alternative “Alt 104.5” WRFF trends down 2.5 – 2.3 – 1.9 for what ratings expert Chris Huff notes is its lowest share since the month before it flipped to Alternative in 2007. Radio One Hip Hop 100.3 WRNB trends down 1.7 – 1.3 – 1.0.
