New station North East Radio Scotland is being launched in Peterhead next month by Ronnie Arthur.
Ronnie is a former director of Peterhead’s Buchan Community Radio which closed down in October 2022. He says the new station will feature ex-radio presenters from the North East area of Scotland making up most of the schedule with some new voices.
North East Radio Scotland plans to be on air by the beginning of May. It will broadcast live from Peterhead via its website and on Freeview channel 277. There are also plans to be on Sky and DAB+ across Aberdeen city centre, plus other digital platforms in due course.
Station Owner Ronnie Arthur says: “I feel the North East area is missing out on truly amazing great local radio.
“I believe it’s all about giving people a chance who would never get a chance elsewhere as well as providing training opportunities and volunteer opportunities.
“We live and breathe the North East area so we know what matters to our listeners. We aim to provide great local content including news, weather, traffic and events information and to entertain with music from the last six decades as well as specialist programmes.
“Being local and having the connection to our listeners is the reason I’ve set up North East Radio – I have been involved with radio from a very young age and just love all things radio.
“We are here to fill the gap that other local stations left when it ceased all local content.”
