Nikki Oswald will depart mornings at NRG Media Hot AC “Sweet 98.5” KQKQ-FM Council Bluffs IA/Omaha NE on Friday, December 15.
Oswald told listeners this morning that she is stepping aside to focus on raising her children.
Oswald first joined KQKQ in October 2018 and during that time she has been teamed with Matt Tompkins, Laura Blenkush, and since September 2021 with Jason Spicoli. Prior to joining KQKQ, Oswald spent five years as Music Director/afternoon host at NRG’s Country “Froggy 98.1” KFGE Lincoln NE and has also worked at WJAG Inc.’s cluster in Norfolk NE.
As part of a letter to listeners on the station’s website, Oswald shared, “We often hear and receive messages saying, “Thank you, you get me through my morning.” Let’s face it, life is hard. I want you to know that goes both ways. One of the hardest parts of this job is the time it takes. That’s one of the biggest reasons I’m stepping back from a career I love, is to prioritize another job that I love and the most important one I have: the one at home. I love radio. I love this station. I love this show. I’ll miss it all terribly, but I can’t miss these too-fast years of my kids being kids. I’ll be listening and laughing and cheering for you all…from home. ”
