Nielsen Reissues Long Island, Middlesex/Somerset/Union & San Jose Ratings

Nielsen has reissued the January 2022 monthlies for three of the Day 1 markets issued on Tuesday due to omitting stations owned by iHeartMedia.

The monthlies for Nassau/Suffolk NY, San Jose CA, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union NJ were reissued with the iHeart owned stations in New York and San Francisco that are subscribing to those suburban markets ratings, but were originally omitted. Similar issues happened with market overlaps between iHeart owned stations in Baltimore and Washington DC, San Diego and Los Angeles, and Providence and Boston in the Day 2 numbers that have not been revised as of yet.

The addition of the iHeartMedia New York stations changes the public leaderboards in both Nassau/Suffolk and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

On Long Island, two iHeart stations ranked in the top 5. While Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM remains on top with a 7.4 share, CHR “Z100” WHTZ rises 5.0 to 5.9 to take second place. Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ is right behind in third as it rises 4.1 to 5.3. iHeart’s Conservative Talk 710 WOR also jumps up 3.0 to 4.3 to place sixth overall. iHeartMedia did not subscribe Hip Hop “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM in the Nassau/Suffolk market.

In New Jersey’s Middlesex/Somerset/Union market, “Z100” is the dominant leader as it surges 5.0 to 7.7. Spanish Broadcasting Systems’ Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ is now in second with its 6.0 share. WAXQ placed seventh up 4.9 to 5.0, and AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW took a post-Christmas drop from first to ninth moving 9.2 to 4.4. WOR and WWPR-FM were still not publicly listed in this market.

Only Soft AC “98.1 The Breeze” KISQ’s 2.6 to 3.0 rise and Hot AC “Star 101.3” KIOI’s 2.7 share after not being listed last month appear in the revised San Jose listings. CHR “Wild 94.9” KYLD, Classic Hits “103.7 80s Plus” KOSF, Hip Hop 106.1 KMEL, nor the company’s AMs in San Francisco were listed in the San Jose revised monthly.
