New jingles now on-air at BBC Radio 2 from Wisebuddah

A new jingle package for BBC Radio 2 has been recorded by Wisebuddah in London and launched to coincide with the arrival of Vernon Kay on mornings.

The new idents feature a live orchestral session recorded at London’s AIR studios with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Wisebuddah worked in close collaboration with the network’s Pop Hub Station Sound team to create a package that uses new singers never heard on a UK network package before.

Jingles include several show specific themes for the station’s daytime output, including the brand-new Vernon Kay show.

And there’s a big change to the top of hour as presenters no longer voice over the top of the news intro live.

Wisebuddah has been creating the jingles for the network since 2012.

Phil Tozer, Managing Director, Wisebuddah told RadioToday: “To be entrusted once again with helping to create the station sound of one of the world’s greatest radio stations is something that gives the whole Wisebuddah team great pride, and we are very excited to share the new sound with the millions of Radio 2 listeners.

“It was also a delight to have worked with such a talented group of musicians in the BBC Concert Orchestra. The package captures the essence of Radio 2’s rich musical heritage and it’s been a joy to see it come to life.”

Robert Gallacher, Commissioning Editor, BBC Pop, said: “We’re delighted to launch Radio 2’s newly-updated station sound to our listeners.

“Featuring new singers and the wonderful BBC Concert Orchestra, it encapsulates the network’s rich musical heritage and encompasses a range of mood themes for our shows, from upbeat to chilled.”
