New Carlisle radio station names studios after the late John Myers

Carlisle community radio station CRFM is testing ahead of its official launch from the aptly titled John Myers Studios.

The studios are named after the late radio executive and presenter, who launched CFM 31 years ago in April.

John was also well known in the area from his time on regional television.

CRFM is now available locally on 102.7 FM and is being run by former Lakeland Radio and The Bay presenter Lindsey Kerr.

Joining the line-up is Ken White, ex CFM Radio, Joe Costin from BBC Radio Cumbria, and Paul Braithwaite, also from the BBC, who has been broadcasting from Carlisle since 1973.

Lyndsey tells RadioToday: “It’s been a long time coming” but it’s finally here!

“We’ll encourage local people, organisations and charities to “take over” the air Saturdays from 11am – as well as opening the door to “tomorrow’s broadcasting talents” by offering training and inclusion.

“CRFM Carlisle’s “Better Music Mix” launches 15th April 2024 8am.”
