Multiple Recent Changes In Joplin/Pittsburg

A series of format changes have taken place in recent weeks in Joplin MO and nearby Pittsburg KS.

American Media Investments has begun the shift of “Classic Rock 99.1” KSEK-FM Girard KS and simulcasters 1420 KBTN/100.1 K261ET Neosho MO to 105.3 KMOQ Columbus KS where it replaces Christian AC “New Life Radio“.

The move will be completed on Monday, January 31 when KSEK-FM and KBTN/K261ET will flip to Sports utilizing Fox Sports Radio.

The pair of former sister stations that had been carrying Fox Sports Radio in the region have both split off. Michael Landis’ 1560 WMBH/101.7 K267BY Joplin is now running CBS Sports Radio along with play-by-play of Missouri Southern State University and Joplin High School as “Somo Sports Radio“.

My Town Media, which acquired 1340 KSEK/107.9 K300DE Pittsburg from Landis, is also running CBS Sports Radio targeting Pittsburg as “Sports Radio 107.9“.

In that deal, Landis received the former “My Country 101.7” KHST Lamar MO. That station is running an unbranded jockless Country playlist.
