McKibbin Media Group CHR “K105.3” WKHM-FM Jackson MI is revamping its on-air lineup with new morning and afternoon show.
Cluster Operations Manager and afternoon host Jared ‘J-Rod’ Hammond will rise to mornings alongside the newly hired Micki Morgret. Hammond has been with the station for over 20 years previously holding roles as Production Director and Program Director prior to rising to OM in 2021. He will give up the Operations Manager duties. Morgret has previously served as PD/morning host at 90s Hits “The Beat” 1380 WBEL/92.3 W222AU/98.9 W255CZ and held on-air roles at multiple stations across the midwest. She will also host middays on sister Country “95.9 The Power Cow” WIBM. The duo replace Jenny Lewis in the daypart.
Marc Daly will move into afternoons. Daly, who has served as PD/host for “Fox Sports 101.9” WKHM-HD2 since 2021 will continue in those roles. He previously programmed WKHM-FM from 2005 to 2014.
Succeeding Hammond as Operations Manager will be Steve Boyle. Boyle will continue to host “Talk Back Jackson” from 10am-12pm on News/Talk 970 WKHM and afternoons as ‘Captain Steve’ on WIBM.
McKibbin Media Group (MMG) has announced it is launching a new Morning Show on its flagship station, K105.3 FM, on Monday, October 23. The K105.3 Morning Show will now feature Jared (J-Rod) Hammond and newly hired radio veteran Micki Morgret as co-hosts of the show, bringing a new flare and excitement to the program.
Hammond, a Jackson, Mich. native and graduate of Northwest High School, has been employed at McKibbin Media Group (Jackson radio) for over 20 years. He is being promoted to mornings on K105.3 (6-10 a.m. M-F) after serving for nearly 20 years as host of the station’s afternoon show featuring the Drive at Five. His promotion to the Morning Show is the next step in the evolution of Hammond on the Jackson airwaves. He will serve as the Program Director for K105.3.
“I’m excited to start this new journey as host of the K105.3 Morning Show,” Hammond said. “It’s the next chapter in my broadcasting career and I’m ready to get started. Micki and I will bring a lot of veteran experience to the show and give Jackson an entertaining and music-filled show that listeners will enjoy.”
Morgret, a native of Hudson, Mich., comes to MMG and K105.3 FM with over 30 years of radio broadcast experience. She served in a variety of capacities in her radio career with stops in Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin, among others. Her career started in Adrian, Mich.
“I came back to Michigan recently to be closer to family and left the radio industry as a result,” Morgret said. “Since I’ve been back, I’ve had the itch to get back into broadcasting, which is where my heart lies, and was excited when this opportunity opened up at K105.3. You never can get radio out of your system completely so this is perfect for me at this point in my career. I can’t wait to get started with J-Rod and the entire MMG team.”
Morgret will also serve as host of the middays (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) on 95.9 FM The Power Cow, Jackson’s country music station.
Additionally, K105.3 will also feature Marc Daly as new host of the Afternoon Show featuring the Drive at Five from 3-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. Daly is a veteran broadcaster with over 20 years of experience in the radio industry. He is the current host of The Daly sports show on 101.9 FM, Jackson’s Fox Sports radio station, which will continue from Noon-1 p.m. weekdays. Daly will also serve as the Program Director for 101.9 FM.
Steve Boyle, the longtime host of WKHM’s Talk Back Jackson (101.5 FM/970 AM) and afternoons with Captain Steve on 95.9 FM The Power Cow, has been promoted to Operations Manager for MMG’s Jackson stations. Boyle will oversee the entire programming department for MMG Jackson in this new role, replacing Hammond, who has moved to mornings. Boyle has been with MMG for over 10 years and will continue his broadcasting roles with WKHM and The Power Cow, along with his new operations duties.
“Young” Joe Cassidy (YJC) will continue to host the middays and Back in the Day Buffet program on K105.3 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays.
“All of these programming moves have been made with our listeners and partners in mind,” MMG President and Owner Katina McKibbin said. “We have so many great veteran broadcasters at McKibbin Media Group. We wanted to put them in the best roles possible to succeed and we feel we have done that with these changes. We’re all excited to get going with these new shows and continue to provide great radio for the Jackson community.”
