Lansing Community College has transferred operations of their 89.7 WLNZ Lansing MI to University of Michigan’s Public News/Talk “Michigan Radio” network based at 91.7 WUOM Ann Arbor.
WLNZ becomes Michigan Radio’s fifth signal joining WUOM, 91.1 WFUM Flint, 91.3 WRSX Port Huron, and 104.1 WVGR Grand Rapids. WLNZ had its operating budget eliminated in June 2020 with the school looking for alternative ways to operate the station. As part of the deal with Michigan Radio, the school will produce four hours weekly of content on Saturdays and Sundays at 1 and 6pm on the station and receive 10 underwriting announcements to air each month, while Michigan Radio will pay for operating expenses, make its leadership team available at least once per semester to speak at LCC classes and consider their students for internships.
