Matt Wardlow Takes The Hosting Reins At Ultimate Classic Rock

Matt Wardlaw has taken over the hosting reins of Townsquare Media and Compass Media Networks’ “Ultimate Classic Rock” from ‘Uncle Joe’ Benson.

Wardlaw has been a writer and editor of Townsquare’s UltimateClassicRock.com since its launch in 2011. He has also served as Director of Affiliate Relations for Sun Broadcast Group, spent sixteen years as Director of Marketing and then Director of Operations at Envision Networks, and has worked on air at Rock “92.3 K-Rock” and Alternative “Radio 92.3” WKRK-FM Cleveland from 2003-11. He has hosted the weekend edition of Ultimate Classic Rock since its launch in January 2022 and co-wrote “The Oral History of WMMS“.

Benson, best known for his 37 year run in Los Angeles at 95.5 KLOS, 93.1 KCBS-FM, and 97.1 KLSX, had hosted the weeknight show since its launch it 2018. Benson’s radio career began in 1968 and has also worked in Cleveland, Milwaukee, Quad Cities, and Rockford as well as hosting Westwood One’s “Off The Record”. A Compass Media Networks representative stated that Benson has stepped away from his duties.
