Mason Dixon Returns To Q105

Q105 104.7 WRBQ TampaAfter being laid off in Beasley Media’s cuts earlier this month, Mason Dixon has quickly returned to Classic Hits “Q105” WRBQ-FM Tampa in a part-time role.

Mason is being heard this week in his former afternoon shift telling listeners on Wednesday they “might want to listen to Q105 today, Thursday and Friday for some special Mason Dixon radio beginning at 3.” A listener stated that he announced he is working on developing a syndicated Saturday morning show to be heard on the station.

A Beasley Media spokesperson confirmed he is back on a part-time basis telling us, “He’s still doing some shows from time to time (part-time).” WRBQ has yet to announce its plans for afternoons following Dixon’s layoff.

Dixon had just signed a contract extension in September before his layoff ended his second stint with the station. He first worked at the then Top 40 in afternoons from 1978 to 1990 and spent time at “Mix 96” WMTX and “100.7 Kiss-FM” WAKS before joining Oldies “U92” WYUU. WYUU would move its format to WRBQ in 2002 with Dixon hosting mornings until his 2020 move to afternoons following the addition of the MJ Morning Show. During his tenure he has also held Program Director and Operations Manager duties.
