Sports journalist Martin Samuel is joining News UK to work at The Times and also co-host a weekly show on talkSPORT.
In addition, Martin will appear as a contributor on TalkTV/TalkRadio and talkSPORT’s breakfast show from January 11th 2023.
Martin will pen his views in weekly columns on all the big sporting stories. He will also write across the news pages and magazines – both digitally and in print – for The Times and The Sunday Times throughout the year.
On talkSPORT, Martin will co-host a weekly show every Thursday night from 7-10pm – talking through all the latest sports news.
Martin joins Times Media after 14 years at the Daily Mail and Mail Online as sports columnist. He was a sports columnist for GQ Magazine from 2012 and has previously worked for The Times, News of the World, Jewish Chronicle, Daily Express, The Sun and Sunday People.
Martin said: “Returning to The Times and covering what I think is the most exciting patch in journalism, is a huge honour. I’m also looking forward to meeting new audiences on talkSPORT and TalkTV.”
Tony Gallagher, editor of The Times, said: “Martin is one of the most garlanded sports journalists of his generation. He sets the benchmark for sports columns every week and I am certain he will be a brilliant asset to The Times and News UK.”
Ben Taylor, deputy editor of The Sunday Times, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Martin aboard. He is a hugely popular writer appealing to sports fans and non-sports fans alike. The opportunities for brilliant sport content are extraordinary right now and he will be invaluable to our team.”
