Hubbard AAA 98.9 KPNW-FM Seattle continues to staff up with the addition of Marco Collins as afternoon host starting May 1.
Collins is best known in the market for his seven year run as Music Director and afternoon host at Alternative “107.7 The End” KNDD from 1991 to 1998 and two stints on-air at AAA 90.3 KEXP from 2009-11 and from 2018 until now. He has also held on-air and programming roles at many big Alternative stations including KYSR Los Angeles, KWOD Sacramento, XETRA-FM San Diego, and KITS San Francisco. Collins has an exhibit about him at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was the subject of the 2015 documentary The Glamour & The Squalor.
98.9 KPNW, Seattle’s Home for Music Lovers, adds another Seattle DJ legend to the on-air line-up. Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Marco Collins, is taking over the air waves on weekdays from 3pm to 7pm starting May 1st, 2023.
“The future of 98.9 KPNW just got a bit brighter with the addition of Marco”, stated Scott Mahalick, Hubbard Seattle Operations Manager. “He is an exceptional talent, with rich knowledge and deep understanding of the local PNW Music scene”.
Marco Collins was the flagship DJ and Music Director at Seattle’s 107.7 The End during the 1990’s grunge explosion. His role breaking artists such as Nirvana, Beck, Weezer, Foo Fighters, and Garbage helped establish him as one of music’s most influential tastemakers landing him a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and subject of the 2015 documentary The Glamour & The Squalor. He joined the on-air staff at KEXP in 2009 and was there until his departure in mid-April.
“It’s rare that you get an opportunity to join a radio station in its earliest incarnation! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for KPNW! It’s an honor that I get to help steer it. Just the fact that we’ll be supporting the local music scene gets me pumped!”
Welcome Marco! We are thrilled to have your experience and passion at Hubbard Seattle on the new 98.9 KPNW helping us provide more new music discovery and champion our local PNW artists!
