Macon’s Sports Superstations To Expand To Savannah & Coastal Georgia

ESPN Coastal Georgia Savannah 1400 104.3 WSEG WSFN WFNSIn a deal not yet filed with the FCC, Shanks Broadcasting has announced it will acquire Southern Media Interactive’s three stations and four translators along the Georgia coast. The stations all currently operate as “ESPN Coastal Georgia” serving the Savannah/Hilton Head, Brunswick and Waycross markets: 1400 WSEG/104.3 W282AR Savannah and 92.7 W224DH Hilton Head Island SC, 790 WSFN/103.7 W279BC Brunswick, and 1350 WFNS/98.5 W253CI Blackshear.

The stations will begin immediately carrying the programming currently heard on Shanks’ current “Sports Superstations” network of 1150 WXKO Fort Valley/93.1 W226BZ Macon/105.9 W290BD Montezuma, 93.1 WWKM Rochelle, and 98.3 WCEH-FM Pinehurst. That lineup includes the WNSR Nashville based Bill King Show from 7-9am, The Dan Patrick Show from 9-11am, Russ Brown and Daniel Shirley’s “Midday Sports Zone” from 11am to 1pm, Southern Sports Today’s Chuck Oliver Show from 1-3pm, and owner Bill Shanks from 3-6pm. ESPN Radio will be heard at night and weekends. All of the stations will carry the Atlanta Braves, Falcons, and Hawks. WFNS and WSFN will carry Georgia Southern University sports while the rest carry University of Georgia.

The current afternoon show on the three coastal stations comes to an end after nine years as “Three & Out” hosted by Kevin Thomas, BJ Bennett and Ben Troupe will not be retained.
