Mike Crute has returned his Liberal Talk programming to Milwaukee.
Crute, who owned 1510 WRRD/101.7 W269DL from 2017 to 2020, has begun operating Good Karma Brands’ 540 WAUK Jackson/101.1 W266DR Waukesha as “The Sha 101 FM” ahead of a sale. Crute had purchased 1510 from Good Karma and sold it back the them, where it is now Black Talk “101.7 The Truth” WGKB.
Crute also leases Liberal Talk “Devil Radio 92.7” 1580 WTTN Columbus/92.7 W224EG Madison WI from Good Karma Brands. A $363,921 sale of WTTN to Crute failed to close last year.
The new WAUK lineup will feature a mix of syndicated and local shows duplicating the lineup currently heard in Madison. Matt Flynn Direct will air from 6-8am. National shows hosted by Stephanie Miller (8-11am) and Thom Hartmann (11am-2pm) will be followed by a block of local shows from 2-7pm. “Dueling Tangents with Luke & Bryan” will run from 2-3pm, followed by Crute’s “Devil’s Advocates Radio” from 3-5pm. Longtime Milwaukee host Earl Ingram follows from 5-6pm, and “Native Roots Radio” from 6-7pm.
Crute tells UrbanMilwaukee.com that the station will add local elements. The station will be focusing sales on the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, which derives the station’s “The Sha” nickname and operting from studios downtown. Waukesha alderman Don Paul Browne will host a weekly community based show and the top-of-the-hour newscast will lead off with a Waukesha based story. Crute states he will be acquiring WAUK for $650,000.
WAUK had been running the national ESPN Radio feed 24/7 as a compliment to “ESPN Milwaukee” 94.5 WKTI.
