After over 39 years in mornings at iHeartMedia Country 93.1 WPOC Baltimore, Laurie DeYoung will depart the show at the end of the week.
After making the announcement on-air on Monday, she confirmed more information nn a series of comments on her show’s Facebook page. DeYoung emphasizes that she is not retiring and it was not her decision, but rather part of iHeartMedia’s recent cutbacks. Her last shift for the morning show will be on Saturday, December 20 and then she will return in February for a new weekend show and some station events.
DeYoung, inducted in the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2010, joined WPOC’s morning show in September 1985. She began her career in 1975 at WMUZ Detroit and would work at WSHN Fremont MI, WCUZ, WKLQ WLAV, WTWN, and WYGR Grand Rapids, and KBZT San Diego prior to her arrival at WPOC.
The Laurie DeYoung Morning Show currently also features WPOC APD Jeff St. Pierre and Bethany Linderman.
