La Raza Expands In Greenville/Spartanburg As Magic Fades

With Norsan Media beginning its lease of 106.3 WSPA-FM Simpsonville/Greenville SC from Audacy at midnight, the station flipped to Regional Mexican “La Raza” simulcasting new sister 910 WOLI/105.7 W289BS Spartanburg.

Norsan Media agreed to purchase WSPA-FM last week for $700,000. The sale was required as part of Audacy’s bankruptcy restructuring due to changes in the amount of stations in the Greenville/Spartanburg market requiring Audacy to divest one of its stations. Norsan operates “La Raza” branded Regional Mexican stations in eight markets with the brand also heard in Austin TX, Charleston SC, Charlotte NC, Columbia SC, Greensboro/Winston-Salem NC, Jacksonville FL, and Wilmington NC.

Audacy’s “Magic” brand signed-off at midnight with no fanfare as Lifehouse’s “You & Me” was the final song cutting towards the end. Earlier in the day, host Shorty paid tribute to the station’s history and included guest spots from former hosts including Lee Alexander and Sheri Taylor, the latter of whom had served as afternoon host from 2014 until exiting earlier in March.
