Dick Broadcasting has flipped Soft Oldies “96.1 The Island” 1130 WHHW/96.1 W241CV Hilton Head Island SC to Regional Mexican “La Pantera 96.1“.
Cloning the brand and lineup of recently launched “La Pantera 105.5” WXQR Jacksonville NC, WHHW will carry the syndicated “El Bueno, La Mala, y El Feo” in mornings and La Chiqui Baby in middays. “La Texanita” is hosting afternoons on both WXQR and WHHW.
Dick Broadcasting is excited to announce the creation of Beaufort, Bluffton and Hilton Head, SC’s newest radio station. La Pantera 96.1 FM. Why La Pantera? It translates to “The Panther”! This represents our effort to aggressively serve the Hispanic/Latino community. Why Hispanic? We did extensive research about the Hispanic population in the area, and found that Beaufort and Jasper County has grown tremendously and projected to grow even more in the next few years. We recognized that the Hispanic/Latino community was underserved and it is a must to deliver local information and content to all of the citizens in our area.
The programming will feature some of the best talent in the Country like the Morning Show “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly” (El Bueno, La Mala, y El Feo). Chiqui Baby will cover middays from 10am until 2pm. Local talent will be on the air from 2pm until Midnight.
“We are so excited about this radio station and the platform it provides for entertaining and informing the Hispanic/Latino Community in South Carolina. It will also be a wonderful opportunity for our clients to reach a portion of the population they have never reached!” said Aaron Wilborn, Market Manager for Dick Broadcasting.
“96.1 La Pantera is in a perfect position to serve the Hispanic community that has been underserved for years. This is an exciting time for DBC as we evolve with our first Hispanic station for the company”. said Jason Goodman, VP of Programming for Dick Broadcasting.
Operations Manager Gabe Reynolds said “I’m incredibly proud to be part of a company that believes in doing what radio does best and that’s serving our community. La Pantera is one of the most well thought out radio stations I have ever been a part of. I’m excited to see the impact it’s going to have on the Low Country and Coastal Empire.”
“Hispanics represent the fastest growing opportunity in our local counties for Dick Broadcasting and our client partners. Our La Pantera format was designed and is programmed by Gerardo Lopez, who has created and established some of the biggest programs and networks in Spanish language radio here in the US and in Mexico. La Pantera delivers a mix of music, entertainment and information designed to engage audiences across generations while providing them with an in-culture friend to accompany them wherever they want to listen, over the air, on mobile via the La Pantera app or online” said Dick Harlow, COO for Dick Broadcasting.
