After departing mornings at iHeartMedia’s 107.5 WGCI Chicago in mid-February, Kyle Santillian is joining Radio One and Reach Media’s “The Morning Hustle”.
Santillian had joined WGCI in January 2015 after fifteen years at Entercom’s “102 Jamz” WJMH Greensboro NC where he rose from Promotions Coordinator to night host and then spent a eleven years leading “The Wild Out Wake Up Show”.
Santillian will be accompanied by incumbent co-host Monica ‘Lore’l’ Torres as Headkrack exits. Headkrack had been part of the Morning Hustle since its launch in January 2020 after previously serving as a co-host of the Rickey Smiley morning show. In an Instagram story this morning, Headkrack wrote, “Had to do what I had to do. Wasn’t fired, didn’t quit. It was a Mexican standoff where both corners backed away with guns drawn”. The rapper previously hosted nights at Radio One’s “97.9 The Beat” KBFB Dallas and continues to co-host the syndicated TV show Dish Nation.
Today, Urban One Inc.’s Reach Media and Radio One announced that Kyle Santillian, one of Chicago’s most popular personalities, is joining the nationally syndicated show The Morning Hustle.
“Kyle is an exceptional morning show anchor. His years of experience and passion for morning radio will be a fantastic addition to The Morning Hustle,” said Colby Tyner, Senior VP Programming of Urban One’s Radio One and Reach Media divisions.
For the past seven years Kyle anchored The Chicago Morning Takeover, where he served as ringleader for a cast that woke up the city every morning with laughs, news, interviews, entertainment gossip , skits, parodies, features, mix shows and more. He’ll bring that infectious energy to The Morning Hustle, now heard in approximately 30 urban markets. Prior to his run in Chicago, he led the WJMH morning show in Greensboro, North Carolina.
