KWFN Extends Deal As Home Of San Diego Padres

Audacy Sports “97.3 The Fan” KWFN San Diego has announced it will continue to serve as flagship station for San Diego Padres baseball through the end of the 2027 season.

KWFN took over as the home of the Padres in 2018 when it flipped first to a Hot Talk/Rock mix and quickly to Sports. The franchise spent one season on Alternative “Alt 94.9” KBZT in 2017 at the start of its current rights deal with then-Entercom.

Audacy and the San Diego Padres announced an extension to their broadcast partnership agreement today, keeping 97.3 The Fan (KWFN-FM) as the flagship station for Padres baseball through 2027. The station has served as the radio home of the team since 2018.

As part of the extended partnership, 97.3 The Fan will continue to serve as the radio home of Padres baseball, broadcasting all of the team’s regular season and postseason games.

“As one of the most exciting teams in Major League Baseball, the Padres have brought championship aspirations back to San Diego, and we’re delighted to deliver every minute of the action to our listeners for the foreseeable future,” said Michael Valenzuela, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy San Diego. “As San Diego’s No. 1 sports talk station, we’re fortunate to provide Padres fans with a consistent, reliable home for their favorite team and look forward to continuing our partnership with the club.”

“We’re very happy to continue our radio partnership with Audacy and 97.3 The Fan,” said Chris Connolly, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, San Diego Padres. “They have built a loyal audience with their local programming over the last five years and have become a trusted source for our Padres fans all across the San Diego area. We look forward to continued growth with the No. 1 sports talk station in town for many years to come.”

The Padres Radio Network broadcast team consists of play-by-play announcer Jesse Agler, color analyst Tony Gwynn Jr, and Sam Levitt, who joined the station’s coverage this season as pregame and postgame host.
