Audacy has announced that “98.9 The Rock” KQRC Kansas City Brand Manager Bob Edwards will add those same duties for Classic Rock 96.5 WCMF Rochester NY.
Edwards has programmed KQRC since 2003 and also held Operations Manager duties for the Kansas City cluster. Prior to Kansas City, Edwards programmed WZZU and WRDU Raleigh, KKLZ Las Vegas, WQBK Albany NY, and WRXR Augusta GA.
WCMF has not had a direct Brand Manager since the departure of Michael ‘Mud’ Gross in 2020.
Audacy names Bob Edwards Brand Manager of 96.5 WCMF (WCMF-FM) in Rochester, NY. In this role, Edwards will oversee the station’s content strategy, talent, operations and branding. Edwards will continue as Brand Manager of The Rock 98.9 FM (KQRC-FM) in Kansas City.
“Bob’s long history of success in the rock and classic rock arenas makes him the perfect choice to continue and expand the WCMF legendary brand,” said Sue Munn, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Rochester. “We’re excited to have him join our team.”
“WCMF is one of a handful of truly legendary rock stations with more than 50 years of success in the format,” said Edwards. “It’s a real honor to be named Brand Manager of WCMF and work with Rochester’s dominant morning show, ‘The Break Room.’ I thank Jeff Sottolano, Dave Richards, Vince Richards and Sue Munn for this opportunity.”
Edwards is a long-time broadcast professional, including stints as Program Director of Raleigh’s Classic Rock WZZU from 1994 to 1996 and Operations Manager of CHR WDCG from 2000 to 2003 before joining the Audacy team in Kansas City at KQRC as Brand Manager in 2003.
