After 21 years the Big D & Bubba morning show is no longer airing on Townsquare Media Country 101.5 KNUE Tyler TX as the station has launched a new morning show hosted by Brand Manager Billy Jenkins and former midday host Tara Holley.
Jenkins joined the Townsquare Tyler/Longview cluster in May as Director of Content for the cluster and PD of KNUE after serving in the same role for the company’s Grand Junction CO cluster. Holley has hosted middays at KNUE since November 2018 after previously hosting nights at the station in the early 2000s. She will continue to also host afternoons at Townsquare’s “Classic Rock 96.1” KKTX.
Townsquare’s ‘Jess on the Job’ replaces Holley in middays. Jess, who tracks for Townsquare stations nationwide, previously hosted afternoons in Tyler at Townsquare CHR “Mix 93.1” KTYL.
In a blog post announcing the new morning show, Jenkins writes, “As East Texas continues to grow, we want to do more to support our local businesses. We also want to do more to give back to our community. A live and local morning team is going to help accomplish this goal. We know you care about what’s going on here in East Texas so that will be our primary focus!”
Big D and Bubba told KLTV-TV, “We never got to say goodbye, say thank-yous. It was really one of those things that hit us hard. This is family. We’ve known these folks people throughout East Texas. To not even be able to say goodbye was the hardest part.”
