Gross Communications’ Backyard Media flipped Hot AC “Mix 100.7” KMGX Bend OR to Classic Rock “The X 100.7” at 6am today.
KMGX will feature Dave Sholin in middays from 10am-2pm. The longterm programmer also hosts afternoons on sister Country 102.9 KSJJ. Wes Moore, who served as Program Director for the former format, will continue in that role and afternoon host.
The first five songs on the “The X” were, AC/DC “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)”, ZZ Top “Just Got Paid”, Doobie Brothers “Minute By Minute”, Don Henley “Dirty Laundry” and The Who “Long Live Rock”.
The new Classic Rock format will create a Rock pair with sister Alternative “92.9 FM” KRXF, while going up against Combined Communications’ Classic Rock leaning “Rock 98.3 The Twins“. KTWS currently ranks fourth in the Bend market with an 8.1 share in the November 2022 Eastlan ratings. KRXF is sixth with a 4.8 share.
KMGX’s former format had a 3.3 share in the November 2022 Eastlan ratings, just behind Horizon Broadcasting’s competing “104.1 The Peak” KWPK’s 3.5 share.
