Former Meruelo Media Classic Rock 95.5 KLOS Los Angeles afternoon hosts Kevin Ryder and Doug ‘Sluggo’ Roberts and former KLOS midday host Marci Wiser took to social media this afternoon to tease a team-up.
Wiser joined Audacy earlier this month to host mornings at Classic Alternative “Live 105” KITS San Francisco, but has also begun hosting fill-ins at Alternative 106.7 KROQ. That would be the station where Roberts and Ryder spent the majority of their careers.
Ryder hosted mornings at KROQ from 1989 until March 2020 mostly with Gene ‘Bean’ Baxter. Roberts spent nearly 30 years at KROQ from 1990 to 2019 before moving to KLOS as APD/MD/afternoon host. He also pulled double duty in New York on “92.3 K-Rock” WXRK from 1996 to 2004, was part of the music programming and writing team at Variety Hits “93.1 Jack-FM” KCBS-FM and has hosted shows on SiriusXM’s 80s Alternative “First Wave” and 90s Alternative “Lithium” since 2004. Ryder would join Sluggo in afternoons at KLOS in March 2021 until both were let go earlier this month.
Prior to joining Audacy, Wiser hosted middays at KLOS from 2015 until being part of Meruelo’s purge of midday hosts in February. During her tenure at KLOS she also previously tracked middays at KBER Salt Lake City and other markets from 2015 to 2021. She has worked at stations across the country including WXRK New York, WTGB Washington DC, KDKB and KUPD Phoenix, KHTB, KISN, KZHT, KQMB Salt Lake City, and KYNW Seattle.
Now that all three have a shared history at the station, is a return to KROQ in the offing?
