Cumulus Media Country “Kix 106” WGKX Memphis is seeking a new morning host as Duane Shannon and wife Abby Summers have departed after eleven years at the station.
Shannon and Summers joined WGKX in November 2010 after previously co-hosting mornings together at Cumulus’ “107.9 The Duke” WOGT and Brewer Broadcasting Hot AC “Alive 95.3” WALV-FM Chattanooga. Shannon also served as Program Director at WGKX from his arrival until giving up those duties in 2020. He also programmed former Soft AC “98.9 The Bridge” WKIM-FM Memphis and both WOGT and WALV-FM during his time in Chattanooga.
Cumulus is seeking a new host for WGKX mornings stating, “Are you creative, full of energy, ready to share your life and engage with our listeners with phoners and social media, become part of the local community and wake me up with laughs and fun? If you are a team player and lights up a room when you walk in, then we have a great job for you as the new morning host of the legendary Kix-106. We can teach you about the country format so don’t let that stop you…but we can’t teach funny. Live in a great city with amazing food and music you won’t hear anywhere else….” Full details can be seen on the job posting here.
