Kim Faris To Retire From WMMX After 43 Years On Air In Dayton

After spending her entire 43 career in her hometown, Kim Faris will retire from iHeartMedia AC “Mix 107.7” WMMX Dayton OH

Faris spent the majority of her career at 1410 WING/92.9 WJAI and WGTZ hosting middays at the Beautiful Music station until its 1984 flip to CHR “Z93” when she moved to mornings and would stay until 2002. After four years in middays she moved to a sales position in 2006 before joining iHeartMedia the following year to host mornings on AC “Lite 99.9” WLQT. She would remain at WLQT through its move to 94.5 in 2011 and flip to Country in 2013. She then moved to WMMX in 2016. Faris also tracks middays for Hot AC “Mix 99.5” WMAG Greensboro NC.

iHeartMedia Dayton today announced the retirement of legendary on-air personality Kim Faris, shared personally by Kim on the “Jeff, Kristi and Dave Morning Show.” After 43 years broadcasting in the Dayton market, Faris last day on-air will be Friday, July 16.

During her time on-air, Faris has graced the airwaves on stations like WING, WJAI, WGTZ Z93, WLQT, WYDB and most recently on Mix 1077. She has been the midday host on Mix 107.7 for the last five years, where she is currently ranked #1 with people ages 25-54 in the 10am-3pm time slot.

A member of the Ohio Radio Hall of Fame and the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Faris has also played a key role hosting the Miami Valley View show every weekend on all of Dayton’s iHeartRadio stations for the last decade. In addition, she has volunteered and advocated for a variety of amazing organizations across the Dayton area and Tri-State Region, including the American Heart Association, Walk for Women’s Wellness, Noble Circle Project, Pink Ribbon Girls and many more.

“My hope, as I hang up these headphones, is that I have made a positive impact in our community,” said Faris. “That is what this job is all about — to connect with our listeners and make them feel happy, sometimes sad, but always appreciated. I will continue to advocate for women’s health and well-being, making sure women in Dayton and the Miami Valley are aware of the many services in our community that are here to help them live their best life.”

“Kim is the kind of person you hope and pray will be on your staff,” said Jeff Stevens, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Dayton. “She will learn anything you throw at her, and she makes everyone on the staff better. The hole she will leave behind is not a small one. Not many people are irreplaceable, but Kim falls into that rare category. We’ve hidden all the calendars hoping she might lose track of the date and accidentally stick around a little longer.”

“Working with Kim Faris for the last 29 years has been a real honor,” said David Litteral, Market President for iHeartMedia Dayton. “She is one of the best broadcasters in the business and a true friend. We will certainly miss her smile and contagious enthusiasm!”

To celebrate Faris’s time on-air, the station’s annual Mix 107.7 taking place on July 23 at Fraze Pavilion, will honor Faris with a special send off in between Night Ranger and Styx performances.
