Saga Communications AAA “106.1 The Corner” WCNR Charlottesville VA PD/morning host Kendall Stewart is joining Minnesota Public Radio’s “The Current” based at 89.3 KCMP Minneapolis as Assistant Program Director.
Stewart has been with WCNR since 2015 in multiple roles including MD/midday host, APD/afternoon host, and her now former PD/morning host duties. She also tracked nights on Classic Rock “97.5 3WV” WWWV. Prior to arriving in Charlottesville, Stewart began her career in college at 88.9 WERS Boston and later worked at AAA’s “92.5 The River” WXRV and 91.9 WUMB in the market.
The Current announces Kendall Stewart will join the station February 6 as its next Assistant Program Director. She will play a key role on the station’s programming team, supporting the work of on-air hosts as well as helping to develop day-to-day music programming and production elements.
Stewart joins The Current from WCNR The Corner in Charlottesville, Va., where she most recently served as Program Director and Morning Host. Over her seven years in Charlottesville, she also held the positions of Music Director/Midday Host, Assistant Program Director/Afternoon Host, and even moonlit as the evening host on The Corner’s Classic Rock sister-station, 97.5 3WV.
“Kendall is an industry-leader that brings immense experience to this role, and I can’t wait to see her thrive as a part of this team and help The Current continue to grow. I’m so pumped for her to join The Current!” said Lindsay Kimball, Program Director at The Current.
Stewart’s love of radio began at Emerson College’s WERS 88.9 FM in her hometown of Boston, Mass. After graduating, she worked for 92.5 The River and WUMB in Boston before eventually landing at Charlottesville’s 106.1 The Corner in 2015. Her non-radio passions include fringe theater, comedy and DJing themed dance parties around the country, including Emo Night Brooklyn and Gimme Gimme Disco.
“I’ve admired The Current ever since I started in Triple A and often looked to them for inspiration during my time in Charlottesville. The opportunity to join the team is a real honor and I can’t wait to hit the ground running! Let’s go!!!,” Stewart said.
