Chalk Hill Communications has closed on its $162,500 purchase of Sports “ESPN East Texas“ 1490 KYZS/95.7 K239CB Tyler TX from Paul Gleiser’s ATW Media.
With the sale complete, KYZS has flipped to a simulcast of Classic Rock “All Hit Radio KDOK” 1240 KDOK Kilgore and translators 94.9 K235CV Chalk Hill, 101.9 K270AW Longview, 105.3 K287AJ Kilgore, and 106.1 K291CY Henderson. Chalk Hill describes the format as “an eclectic mix of hits from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s” with core artists including Pink Floyd, The Doobie Brothers, Bruce Springstein, the Beatles and Billy Joel.
While the KDOK call letters will remain in Kilgore, the move does mark a return home. 1490 KDOK Tyler was the longtime Top 40 in the market from 1965 until 1990.
