KDKD To Cease Operations

Radford Media Group will shut down Farm/Conservative Talk 1280 KDKD Clinton MO on New Years Eve.

Station owner Clayton Radford writes on the station’s website that tower owner Crown Castle informed the company last week that it intends to decommission KDKD’s tower in January, ““We are saddened to see the once prominent KDKD-AM station power down, but it’s in the hands of the ones who own the tower. With the technological advancements in FM & HD radio, we look forward to providing additional content to our communities with digital upgrades that we will be able to accomplish in the near future.”

KDKD will sign-off at 5:15pm on Friday, December 31 following a fifteen minute retrospective that will air on both KDKD and Country 95.3 KDKD-FM. The company will move Kansas City Royals baseball next season from KDKD to “Rock 104.9” KXEA Lowry City. The Royals had aired on KDKD every year since starting play in 1969.

KDKD is licensed to operate with 1kW day and 58 watts night.
