The next piece of Cumulus Media’s Kansas City moves will take place at midnight when CHR “95.7 The Vibe” KCHZ Ottawa KS becomes “107.3 The Vibe” on KMJK North Kansas City.
The move to 107.3 will come with a number of lineup changes. The Vibe will drop the syndicated Bert Show from mornings and Elliot at night. Midday host Tyler Fry will move up to anchor “The Morning Vibe” from 6-10am. Frye joined the Vibe in December 2021 after seven years in nights at sister CHR 104.1 KRBE Houston. Frye also has hosted nights at “G105” WDCG Raleigh and “Hot 107.1” KDHT Denver. He began his career as a fill-in host at 93.3 WFLZ Tampa.
The person he succeeded in middays, “103.3 The Edge” WEDG Buffalo morning host Cassaday Proctor will return to the daypart remotely from 10am-3pm. She previously hosted middays at KCHZ from 2019 until her November 2021 move to Buffalo. She has also afternoon host at “105.1 The X” KCJK and part of morning shows at “Mix 94.7” KAMX Austin, “Kiss 95.1” WNKS Charlotte, “Star 94.1” WSTR Atlanta, and Variety Hits “106.5 The Arch” WARH St. Louis.
Program Director Jagger remains in afternoons. Moving to nights will be Dallace Jade. Jade, based in Colorado Springs, is heard in middays of Cumulus CHRs there and Albuquerque, afternoons in Salt Lake City and weekends on Bonneville’s KZZO Sacramento.
Cumulus has not revealed whether the station will continue to simulcast on 95.7 or whether a new format will debut there. The move to 107.3 follows last week’s move of its Hip Hop/R&B format to 105.1 KCJK Garden City and relaunch as “Power 105.1“.
The move to 107.3 will give the station better coverage on the Missouri side of the market as its transmitter is east of Kansas City. 95.7 is halfway between Kansas City and Lawrence KS, and also covers the Topeka KS market. In the just released September 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings, KCHZ rose 1.6 to 1.8 placing it well behind Steel City Media’s “Mix 93.3” KMXV’s 3.9 to 4.5 gain.
