iHeartMedia CHR “Y100” WHYI Fort Lauderdale/Miami has announced the addition of Kirsten ‘K Marie’ Savik as its new midday host.
Nicknamed ‘La Gringa Más Latina’, K Marie moves over from the same timeslot at sister Spanish CHR “Tú 94.9” WZTU where she has been since 2016. Starting her career in her native Minnesota at Regional Mexican 1530 KQSP when she was just learning Spanish, she later worked at Rhythmic CHR “Now 96.3” KHTC before moving to Miami in 2012 with stints at “DJ 106.7” WXDJ and “Power 96” WPOW-FM prior to joining WZTU.
She commented, “I’m incredibly honored to join the legendary Y100 family. Since starting at TÚ 94.9, Miami’s diversity—from Cubans and Colombians to Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans and so many others—has made me feel right at home, even though I’m not Latina by background. This city has taught me to embrace its sazón, vibrancy and pride, and I’m humbled to bring that spirit to Y100. Thank you, Miami, for inspiring me every day!”
Program Director Larry ‘Yako’ Calderón Jr. said, “I’ve worked closely with K Marie for nine years, and her natural talent for connecting with audiences is remarkable. She has a special ability to blend her ‘Gringa’ roots with her passion for Miami’s Hispanic culture. Her energy, music style and commitment to celebrating the vibrancy of our community make her a perfect fit for Y100.”
She will also serve as a Digital Influencer for Y100. She succeeds Claudia Mendoza in the midday slot at the station.
