July 2021 (6/24 – 7/21) Nielsen Audio PPM Ratings Day 3: First Time Leader In Las Vegas

Day 3 of Nielsen Audio’s PPM releases are now available for Portland, Charlotte, San Antonio, Sacramento, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Orlando, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Kansas City, and Columbus.

iHeartMedia Classic Rock “99.7 The Fox” WRFX continues to lead Charlotte as it trends upwards 6.6 – 6.8 – 7.3. iHeart’s Country “96.9 The Kat” WKKT rebounds up 5.4 to 6.6 to place second. Bonneville’s AC “K104.7” WKQC (6.0 to 5.9) and Country 103.7 WSOC (5.1 to 5.9) tie for third as Radio One Adult R&B “105.3 R&B” WOSF trends up 4.6 – 4.9 – 5.5 to place fifth.

After surging last month 3.1 to 5.0, Radio One’s recently relaunched Hot AC “Mix 107.9” WLNK dips back to a 4.5. Beasley Hip Hop “Power 98” WPEG trends down 5.2 – 5.0 – 3.8.

The lead in Portland narrows as Public News/Talk 91.5 KOPB-FM drops 8.9 to 8.2, while iHeartMedia Classic Hits “106.7 The Eagle” KLTH trends up 7.4 – 7.8 – 8.1. iHeartMedia AC “K103” KKCW rises 5.4 to 5.7 to place third. Following in fourth is Alpha Media News/Talk 101.1 KXL up 4.8 to 5.5. Alpha AAA 101.9 KINK (4.5 to 4.6) and Audacy Variety Hits “97.1 Charlie-FM” KYCH (steady at 4.6 tie for fifth).

The Country battle in Portland flips as Audacy’s “99.5 The Wolf” KWJJ trends up 3.2 – 3.5 – 4.4 and Alpha’s “98.7 The Bull” KUPL slips 5.1 to 3.9. Both CHRs are on the rise as iHeartMedia’s “Z100” KKRZ jumps up 3.2 to 3.9 and Alpha’s “Live 95.5” KBFF is up 2.4 to 3.0.

Cox takes the top four spots in San Antonio. Classic Hits 101.1 KONO-FM rises 7.7 to 7.9. For the second straight month Classic Rock “106.7 The Eagle” KTKX sets a station record as it trends up 5.7 – 6.5 – 6.8. Hot AC “Magic 105.3” KSMG slips 7.1 to 6.5 and Country “Y100” KCYY rises up 5.1 to 5.9. iHeartMedia AC “Q101.9” KQXT places fifth down 5.6 to 5.2.

The CHRs in San Antonio are moving in opposite directions as iHeart’s “96.1 Now” KXXM trends up 3.6 – 4.5 – 4.6, while Alpha’s “Energy 94.1” KTFM tumbles 2.2 – 1.9 – 1.4.

iHeartMedia News/Talk 1530 KFBK/93.1 KFBK-FM goes back on top of Sacramento up 8.5 to 8.7. Audacy Classic Rock “96.9 The Eagle” KSEG is second down 8.6 to 8.2. Bonneville Country 105.1 KNCI surges up 6.4 to 8.0, but co-owned AC “Mix 96” KYMX plummets down 9.9 to 6.3. Audacy’s “98 Rock” KRXQ is up 5.7 to 6.2.

iHeartMedia Soft AC “92.5 The Breeze” KBEB slips 6.3 – 6.1 – 5.4, while Classic Rock “93.7 The River” KYRV trends up 3.1 – 3.3 – 4.0. Audacy CHR “106.5 The End” KUDL jumps up 2.6 to 4.0, while in its final monthly before being upgraded to the stronger 101.9 facility, Entravision’s Spanish Rhythmic “Fuego 103.5” KHHM trends down 1.9 – 1.5 – 1.0.

Bonneville AC 100.3 KSFI trends up 6.8 – 7.2 – 7.6 to reclaim the top spot in Salt Lake City. iHeartMedia Classic Hits 94.1 KODJ slips off its station record 8.0 last month to a 7.3. Bonneville News/Talk 1060 KSL/102.7 KSL-FM rises 6.1 to 6.9. Capital Broadcasting AC “Now 97.9” KBZN holds steady at a 6.7 share. Bonneville Classic Rock “103.5 The Arrow” KRSP is fifth up 6.3 to 6.5.

Broadway Media Alternative “X96” KXRK trends up 2.4 – 2.9 – 3.1. AAA 90.9 KRCL rises 1.4 to 2.1 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is a record for the facility.

Audacy Classic Hits “105.9 Sunny-FM” WOCL trends up 9.0 – 9.2 – 10.2 to expand its Orlando lead. Cox Adult R&B “Star 94.5” WCFB holds in second down 8.0 to 7.7. iHeartMedia AC “Magic 107.7” WMGF is up 6.5 to 7.0, while CHR “XL 106.7” WXXL holds at a 6.9 and their Spanish Tropical “Rumba 100.3” rises 6.4 to 6.5.

Beasley Classic Hits 96.3 KKLZ (7.3 to 7.1) and Faith Communications Christian AC 90.5 KSOS (6.7 to 7.1) tie atop Las Vegas. Huff notes that is a record high for KSOS and first time the station has held a share of the Las Vegas market lead. iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 106.5” KSNE is third down 6.0 to 5.7. Lotus Regional Mexican “La Buena 101.9” KWID rises 4.9 to 5.5, while sister Classic Rock “97.1 The Point” KXPT trends up to fifth 3.9 – 4.1 – 5.0.

Audacy Hot AC “Mix 94.1” KMXB stumbles down 6.0 to 4.4. Lotus Rock 92.3 KOMP trends up 2.6 – 2.8 – 3.4 and Beasley Country “102.7 Coyote Country” is up 2.4 – 2.5 – 3.1.

iHeartMedia Classic Rock 102.5 WDVE remains on top of Pittsburgh down 12.0 to 11.1, while sister Classic Hits “94.5 3WS” WWSW dips 9.8 to 9.7. Steel City Media Variety Hits “96.9 Bob-FM” WRRK dips 8.0 to 7.9. Audacy Sports “93.7 The Fan” KDKA-FM rises 6.4 to 6.7 and co-owned Country “Y108” WDSY trends up 4.3 – 5.1 – 5.4.

Audacy News/Talk 1020/100.1 KDKA trends up 3.9 – 4.2 – 4.9, while iHeartMedia Rock “105.9 The X” WXDX slides down 6.7 – 5.1 – 4.9.

iHeartMedia News/Talk 700 WLW trends up 11.1 – 12.5 – 13.1 for what Huff notes is its highest share since April 2015. Cumulus Classic Hits 103.5 WGRR places second down 11.1 to 10.9. Hubbard Country “B105” WUBE trends up 5.5 – 6.0 – 7.0 for third. Cumulus Classic Rock “92.5 The Fox” WOFX and AC “Warm 98.5” WRRM both move up 5.1 to 5.2 to tie for fourth.

Hubbard CHR “Q102” WKRQ trends down 6.6 – 5.2 – 4.6. Grant County Broadcasters Classic Country 105.9 WNKN dips 3.3 to 2.1.

Audacy Classic Rock 98.5 WNCX rises 9.7 to 10.7 to reclaim the Cleveland lead from iHeartMedia Classic Hits “Majic 105.7” WMJI (10.1 to 9.1). Audacy AC “Star 102.1” WDOK trends up 6.9 – 7.5 – 8.8. iHeart News/Talk 1100/106.9 WTAM (7.8 to 7.9) places fourth, while their Country 99.5 WGAR rises 7.6 to 7.8 for fifth.

iHeartMedia CHR “96.5 Kiss-FM” WAKS-FM trends up 3.3 – 3.5 – 3.9, although sister Rock 100.7 WMMS dives 5.1 – 4.4 – 3.9.

Cumulus’ duo of Classic Hits 94.9 KCMO-FM (9.3 – 9.1) and Classic Rock “101 The Fox” KCFX (9.4 – 8.7) remain on top in Kansas City. Public News/Talk 89.3 KCUR rises to third up 5.6 to 6.0. Audacy News/Talk 98.1 KMBZ-FM is up 5.6 to 5.8 and Steel City Media Country 94.1 KFKF is fifth down 5.1 to 4.8.

The three-way Country battle tightened as Audacy’s “106.5 The Wolf” WDAF-FM jumped up 3.4 to 4.4 and Steel City Media’s “Q104” KBEQ is up 5.1 to 4.8.

Audacy Alternative “Alt 96.5” KRBZ rises 2.2 to 2.7, while Cumulus Rock/Alternative “105.1 The X” KCJK falls 1.9 to 1.2.

iHeartMedia Country 92.3 WCOL leads Columbus 9.3 to 8.9. Public News/Talk 89.7 WOSU-FM trends up to second 6.9 – 7.3 – 7.8. iHeartMedia CHR 97.9 WNCI places third up 6.8 to 7.5. TEGNA Sports “97.1 The Fan” WBNS-FM surges up 4.6 – 5.1 – 6.3. Saga Classic Rock “QFM 96” WLVQ dips 7.3 to 6.0.

iHeartMedia News/Talk 610 WTVN trends downward 6.8 – 6.3 – 5.9. Radio One Hip Hop “Power 107.5/106.3” WCKX/WBMO slides 3.0 – 2.6 – 2.1. On the upswing are iHeartMedia Variety Hits “93.3 The Bus” up 3.8 to 5.5 and Classical 101.1 WOSA 1.1 – 1.5 – 2.3, which Huff notes is the highest for the frequency since it was Alternative “CD 101” in 2009.
