After eight years with Cumulus News/Talk 890 WLS Chicago, John Howell has exited the station.
Howell joined WLS in January 2015 as morning host. He would move to 5-7pm in December 2018 and most recently was heard from 3-6pm. Howell has been heard in the Chicago market since 1988 with a run in mornings at Classic Rock 105.9 WCKG and mornings and afternoons at Country “US 99.5” WUSN. He would move to Talk in 2006 with an eight year run at Salem’s “560 The Answer” WIND. Howell also hosted Westwood One’s syndicated “Country Gold” from 1999 to 2006.
In a post on the station’s Facebook page, it was stated, “Yesterday was John Howell’s last show on The Big 89. He has been a staple of 890 WLS for over a decade. His wit, political prowess, and focus on Chicago conversations has given our audience a destination for smart, local radio in the afternoons. Thank you, John, for being a part of the fabric of The Big 89.”
