John Garabedian’s RCRQ Inc. is acquiring Soft Oldies “The Memories Station” 740 WJIB/101.3 W267CE Cambridge/Boston MA from the estate of Bob Bittner for $575,010.
Garabedian, a longtime Boston area programmer, personality and executive most widely known as the founder and host of the syndicated weekend “Open House Party” from 1987 to 2017, also was involved in the founding of syndicator Superadio, music video station “V66” WVJV-TV, owned a four station cluster on Cape Cod from 2012 until 2021, and his Jamchannel produces the currently syndicated nightly CHR show “Liveline with Mason“.
The sale follows the May 2023 death of Bittner. His estate retains AMs and translators in Cape Cod MA, and Bath, Lewiston, and Portland ME.
As part of the deal, RCRQ will sublease the WJIB/W267CE tower site for $3000 per month with Bittner’s estate retaining the proceeds from its existing sublease to 1550 WNTN Newton. The deal will also see WJIB/W267CE and Bittner’s 730 WJTO Bath ME file modification applications with new frequencies for both and a new antenna site for WJIB with Garabedian being responsible for all costs. Dennis Jackson’s Sun Signals LLC served as broker for the seller.
