John Foxx Joins WCBS-FM As Brand Manager & Morning Host

101.1 WCBS-FM New YorkAudacy has announced who will succeed Scott Shannon in mornings at Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM New York.

John Foxx will return to the market to serve as Brand Manager and morning host starting in February 2023. Foxx has previously worked in the market as Program Director and afternoon host at Hot AC 95.5 WPLJ from 2012 to 2018 and PD of Country 94.7 WNSH from 2016 until its demise in October 2021. He rose to Regional Country Vice President for Audacy in 2020 and has programmed Country “100.3 The Bull” KILT-FM Houston since January of this year.

Foxx joined Audacy through their 2019 acquisition of WNSH from Cumulus. He has also programmed CHR “I93” KLIF-FM Dallas and “98.9 Magic-FM” KKMG Colorado Springs.

In addition to succeeding Scott Shannon in mornings at WCBS-FM, Foxx will take the day-to-day programming reins from Jim Ryan. Ryan will continue to serve as SVP/Programming for Audacy New York and Brand Manager of AC “New 102.7” WNEW. Foxx will also oversee the Country format on 94.7 WXBK-HD2.

Audacy has announced plans for morning drive on WCBS-FM 101.1 (WCBS-FM) in New York, following the retirement of industry icon and Hall of Famer Scott Shannon. John Foxx will host a new morning show weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET, launching this February.

Foxx will also be named Brand Manager of WCBS-FM 101.1, assuming that role from Jim Ryan. As content lead for the station, Foxx will collaborate with Ryan, who will remain Senior Vice President of Programming for Audacy New York and Brand Manager for WNEW 102.7 FM. Foxx will also continue as Brand Manager of 94.7 HD2 Country New York. He will report for all positions to Chris Oliviero, Market President, Audacy New York.

Foxx most recently served as Brand Manager of 100.3 The Bull (KILT-FM) in Houston and Regional Vice President for Country Programming at Audacy. A nationwide search is underway to identify his successor. A native New Yorker, his 23-year career in the radio industry includes experience in multiple formats, with stops as program director and afternoon drive host of WPLJ and Brand Manager of WNSH-FM in New York.
