Joel Shimer Departs Mornings As WODE

99.9 The Hawk WODE Easton AllentownCumulus Media Classic Rock “99.9 The Hawk” WODE Easton/Allentown PA morning co-host Joel Shimer has announced his resignation.

In a Facebook post, Shimer wrote, “Hey Friends! I wanted to share a life update with you; I am no longer with 99-9 The Hawk or The Hawk Morning Show. This was not an easy decision, but I feel like it’s the right move for me at this time.” Partner Rick Michaels added on the show’s page, “Joel as you know has become a great talent over the years working with me and The Hawk Morning Show. I always knew there would be a point that Joel would have to expand his horizons and move on. Well, we have reached that point. As you know Joel and I are friends and will always remain friends. He has decided to pursue other options and avenues life has to offer and as much as I will miss him, I respect his wishes and wish him nothing but the best life has to offer.”

Shimer joined WODE in 2016 while in high school. He has served as producer for Michaels’ morning show beginning in 2019 and rose to co-host in February 2021.

PD Sal Palazzolo is on the hunt for someone to step into Shimer’s role with info here.
