iHeartMedia San Diego announced today that it will debut “Slater & Lou” on News Radio 600 KOGO, San Diego’s News & Information Station. “Slater & Lou” will air weekdays 5 – 7 pm, beginning September 1.

“Slater & Lou” will be co-hosted by Mike Slater and Lou Penrose who are both successful, conservative talk show hosts. The duo will join forces for a fast-paced, news driven, talk program for San Diegans that will focus on the day’s top stories both local and national. Slater’s extensive knowledge of history combined with Lou’s background in politics will provide listeners with an accurate understanding of topics and the impact they may have on people’s lives. As husbands and fathers of young children, both hosts care deeply about their country and its future.

“Mike and Lou represent a fresh approach to talk radio,” said Brian Long, Director of News and Sports Programming of iHeartMedia San Diego. Joining KOGO’s line-up on the drive home next to ‘champion of government reform,’ Carl DeMaio will provide the show with a great forum to deliver their unique perspectives to the KOGO audience.”

Slater is a graduate of Yale University, where he majored in history. He has been a prominent voice on AM 760 since January of 2011 and also hosts “True Story with Mike Slater” on The First TV Network. Where other talk hosts use anger, frustration, and hopelessness to talk about current events, Slater tells stories that connect to eternal principles and conservative values.

Slater is a frequent guest on Fox News and Fox Business. He has filled in for Glenn Beck on his Radio and TV shows and been a guest-host of the Dr. Drew Show on CNN Headline News. He was named Top 5 “Young Guns” of Talk Radio by TALKERS Magazine.

“What a joy it’s been to raise my family in San Diego and spend the last 11 years connecting with an incredible audience on AM 760,” Slater said. “I am grateful for such loyal listeners and look forward to having them join me on KOGO. Partnering with Lou is a dream come true.”

Lou Penrose has been a host on KOGO since August of 2019. In addition to his on-air role, Penrose runs a full-service government relations and public affairs consulting firm. He has served as District Chief of Staff for multiple members of U.S. Congress, including John Campbell, Ed Royce, and Mary Bono. Lou’s extensive broadcast career includes hosting top-rated, radio talk shows. As Director of News and Talk Programming for Morris Media’s KNEWS Radio (KNWZ) in Palm Springs, Lou and his team won three Golden Mic Awards from the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California.

When asked about co-hosting “Slater & Lou,” Penrose said, “I have known Mike and have been a fan of his radio show for years. The opportunity to work with him in bringing San Diego our shared insight on the day’s top news stories is very exciting.”
