Former talkRADIO and BBC radio presenter Iain Lee is launching his own online radio station called Radio Anywhere.
The ex-I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestant says he wants to bring back the days of radio being fun and will broadcast a late night phone-in on the service.
He said: “I love speech radio and right now it’s all people that like to rip up masks or they claim you can grow concrete. What happened to radio being fun? Silly? Warm and welcoming?
“It seems those days are dying out, and I want to see if I can bring them back.”
Radio Anywhere will also include other shows and podcasts including Fadson Podcast, The Nerdy T-Shirt Club and The Computer Game Show.
“Since I left TalkRadio, the phone hasn’t exactly been ringing off the hook”, Lee deadpans.
“No one has offered me a job. I love radio so much that I can’t be away from it for too long. Hence me starting my own station.
“It’s hard work, but I am very excited. I’m also amazed that some very big names have come onboard to advertise and sponsor the station.”
Focus will be on the evenings, between 7pm and midnight. Lee will be hosting a phone in most nights at 10pm and one of the other shows will take the 7pm slot. Throughout the day there will be a mix of music and repeats of the evening shows.
The service is being provided by Radio.co.
Iain adds: “Radio.co make it so easy. Thanks to them the station is available on iOS and Google apps, online and you can even ask Alexa to play Radio Anywhere. I’ve managed to set it up so she gives you a very cheeky reply!”
Radio Anywhere launches Monday 15th November at 7pm with a special four-hour show presented by lain.
