Raleigh/Durham
The Raleigh market sees mostly gains across the board for the remaining subscribers in the market as Curtis Media apparently did not encode its stations for the 28 days of the Holiday survey. That compressed the amount of listening between less stations artificially increasing the percentage of listening to the remaining stations.
Despite not going all-Christmas until December 9, Capitol Broadcasting AC “Mix 101.5” WRAL-FM trends up from a 9.0 in 2020 to 10.4 in 2021 to a boosted 11.6 in 2022. Radio Training Network Christian AC “The Joy FM” 88.5 WRTP and its network of translators added an additional 3.6 shares of Christmas music listening. Last year iHeartMedia’s stunting “Christmas 95.3” WDCG-HD2 added a 2.5 share.
Other stations going up with less encoding stations include iHeartMedia Conservative Talk “Talk 106.1” WTKK (9.2 to 10.4), Radio One Adult R&B “Foxy 107.1/104.3” WFXC/WFXK (7.8 to 9.6), Public News/Talk 91.5 WUNC-FM (8.2 to 9.2), and Radio One Gospel “103.9 The Light” WNNL (3.6 to 5.1).
The only station in the market above a one share to show a decline was iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WRDU as it fell 5.2 to 4.8.
The eight Curtis Media stations had combined for a 22.3 share of the Raleigh/Durham audience in the December monthly including then market leading Classic Hits “Kix 102.9” WKIX-FM.
