Nielsen Audio has released Day 2 of its monthly four day sweep of ratings in PPM markets.
Today’s releases include Washington DC, Boston, Seattle, Miami, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Denver, San Diego, Baltimore, and St. Louis.

Washington DC
American University Public News/Talk 88.5 WAMU holds onto its Washington DC lead down 11.5 to 11.3.
iHeartMedia AC 97.1 WASH’s Christmas music placed second with a 10.9 share. WASH dropped significantly from its 13.2 share in 2021 and 15.2 in 2020. Most of its losses can be attributed to Atlantic Gateway Communications Christian AC 91.9 WGTS, which rose from a 4.0 in 2021 to a 5.5 in 2022 with a mostly Christmas music playlist. Classical 90.9 WETA-FM added an additional 3.1 share with a Christmas focused playlist.
iHeartMedia Alternative “DC101” WWDC rises 2.8 to 3.1. Audacy Spanish CHR “El Zol 107.9” WLZL rises 0.8 to 1.2.
Boston
Audacy AC “Magic 106.7” WMJX registers a 12.5 share for Christmas music this year. WMJX slips from a 13.2 on-air (and 1.4 online) in 2021 and a combined 15.8 in 2020.
iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX jumps up 4.3 to 5.3. Beasley Media Country 102.5 WKLB rises 2.6 to 3.2. Emerson University AAA trends up 1.4 – 1.6 – 1.9.
Seattle/Tacoma
With only three all-Christmas stations this year as opposed to four, all showed year-to-year gains. Hubbard AC “Warm 106.9” KRWM surged to an 11.3 share from a 6.0 last year. Audacy Soft AC “94.1 The Sound” KSWD was up from 4.9 in 2021 to a 7.2. Crista Media Christian AC “Spirit 105.3” KCMS-FM rose from a 4.0 to 4.6. Lotus Hot AC “Star 101.5” KPLZ previously became “Santa-FM” every year under previous Sinclair ownership but sat it out this year falling to a 2.0 from its 2021 3.7 share.
Both Country stations in Seattle showed gains. Audacy’s “100.7 The Wolf” KKWF was up 3.0 to 3.1, while Hubbard’s “98.9 The Bull” KNUC rebounded 1.9 to 2.4.
Miami/Fort Lauderdale
Cox Adult R&B “Hot 105” WHQT takes the South Florida market lead with an 8.0 to 8.9, while sister Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WFEZ dips to second 9.1 to 7.9.
As a fairly recent convert to all-Christmas, Audacy AC “101.5 Lite-FM” WLYF registered a third place 6.3 share down from 6.9 in 2021.
In a market that acts more like the other dozen quarterlies, more stations stayed within their normal margins. iHeartMedia CHR “Y100” WHYI trended up 3.2 – 3.6- 3.9. Audacy Country “99.9 Kiss Country” WKIS was up 2.7 – 3.0 – 3.3. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Big 105.9” WBGG-FM grew 2.9 to 3.5. Audacy CHR “Power 96” WPOW-FM gained 1.9 to 2.3, while sister Alternative “104.3 The Shark” WSFS was up 1.8 to 2.2.
Phoenix
iHeartMedia AC “99.9 KEZ” KESZ registers a 16.8 share down from its 17.7 last year.
Public News/Talk 91.5 KJZZ-FM trends up 7.8 – 8.1, which Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is a new station record high.
Sierra H Broadcasting Classic Hip Hop “101 The Bounce” KZCE bounced 3.3 – 1.9 – 3.0. Desert Valley Media Rhythmic CHR “Power 98.3” KKFR similarly moved 2.3 – 1.8 – 2.4.
Hubbard’s “Oldies 92.7” 1440 KAZG trends up 0.8 – 1.0 – 1.5.
Detroit
iHeartMedia AC 100.3 WNIC continues to be one of the stronger all-Christmas stations each year, but its 15.7 was down from its all-time high of 18.8 last year and 16.6 in 2020.
Audacy Sports “97.1 The Ticket” WXYT-FM trended up 6.8 – 7.4 – 7.6, while its stream concurrently rose 1.7 – 2.0 – 2.2.
Minneapolis/St. Paul
iHeartMedia Classic Hits “Kool 108” KQQL dominated the Twin Cities with a 15.0 share down slightly from its 15.1 last year. Northwestern Media Christian AC 98.5 KTIS-FM placed third overall with a 7.0 share up from its 5.1 in Holiday 2021, while Cumulus Soft AC “Love 105” WGVX/WLUP/WWWM continued to lose ground with its 1.1 share down from 1.3 in 2021 and 2.2 in 2020.
Tampa/St. Petersburg
Christmas music took three of the top four spots in Tampa Bay. Cox Soft AC 105.5 WDUV continues to grow year-to-year leading the market with an 11.4 up from 10.6 in 2021 and 9.0 in 2020. iHeartMedia AC “Mix 100.7” WMTX dropped from 8.3 in 2021 to 7.4 in 2022. Radio Training Network Christian AC “The Joy FM” 91.5 WCIE registered a 5.9 share down from its 6.6 a year ago.
Beasley Media Spanish CHR “Maxima 92.5” WYUU rose from a 2.8 last month to a 3.9 share as part of a four-way tie for seventh overall that also saw sister Rhythmic CHR “Wild 94.1” WLLD rise 3.5 to 3.9.
Denver
Bonneville AC 101.1 KOSI set a new station record high with a 14.4 share rising from 13.3 in 2020 and 14.0 in 2021.
Bonneville Sports “104.3 The Fan” KKFN-FM rose 3.4 to 4.0. Entravision Regional Mexican “96.5 La Tricolor” KXPK trends up 2.9 – 3.1 – 3.4. Classical 88.1 KVOD trends up 2.7 – 3.0 – 3.4.
San Diego
Audacy AC 96.5 KYXY surges up year-to-year from a 9.4 in 2020 to 10.7 in 2021 to 13.6 this year for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is a new station record high.
Despite that, Audacy Classic Hits “Sunny 98.1” KXSN trends up 5.2 – 7.1 – 7.5.
iHeartMedia News/Talk 600 KOGO jumps up 4.6 to 5.4.
Baltimore
Audacy AC “Today’s 101.9” WLIF fell to a 14.5 share in Holiday 2022 after setting a record high in 2021 with a 17.7 share (plus a 1.0 streaming). Peter & John Radio Fellowship Christian AC “95.1 Bright-FM” WRBS-FM was down to a 3.6 share after a 4.1 last year. iHeartMedia AC 97.1 WASH Washington has a 4.5 share in Holiday 2021, but was not listed in the Baltimore ratings this year.
Howard University Adult R&B 96.3 WHUR makes a full share gain 2.1 to 3.1.
St. Louis
Audacy AC 102.5 KEZK dropped from its record high of 17.1 in 2021 to a 14.8 share with its stream adding an additional 0.6 share. Gateway Creative Broadcasting Christian AC “99.1 Joy-FM” KLJY held an additional 6.3 share of Christmas music.
