Sun Broadcasting Country “Hell Yeah 93.7” WHEL Sanibel/Fort Myers FL has moved to translator 94.1 W231DC Fort Myers as the 93.7 signal has begun stunting with all-Taylor Swift.
The move downgrades the Country brand from the 43kW Class C2 signal to the 245 watt translator that had been simulcasting “Rock 103.3” W277AP Bayshore/WHEL-HD2. The format debuted in September 2020 as “Trump Country” before taking the current “Hell Yeah” moniker following the last election in December 2020.
In the recently released December 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings, WHEL was the third-ranked Country station and sixteenth overall in the market with a 1.7 share. Renda Broadcasting’s “Gator Country 101.9” WWGR was eighth overall with a 3.7 and iHeartMedia’s “Cat Country 107.1” was eleventh with a 2.7 share. The moves follow iHeart’s flip of Hot AC “Y100.1” WZJZ to Bilingual AC “Magic 100.1” last week.
